How do I get to camp?

Chef Camp is held at YMCA Camp Miller in Sturgeon Lake, Minnesota. It's about 90 minutes North of the Twin Cities, straight up Route 35. See map at right for directions.

We have ample parking on site, but think it’s great when people carpool.

When should I arrive?

Chef Camp officially starts at 6 p.m on Friday, August 30. You can arrive any time between 4-6 p.m. to settle in. Be sure to leave yourself a little extra time for the drive—there can be traffic heading North on Summer Fridays.

When does camp end?

We say our goodbyes at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept 1. Early check-out is available.

WHAT ARE THE SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS?

This depends. If you booked tent camping, you will be sleeping in our fun tent village that features a fire pit and outdoor lounge. You’ll need to bring your own tent, sleeping pads, and bedding. (See camping gear rentals below.)

If you have booked a private room or group bunk, you will be sleeping in twin size bunk beds and will need to bring your own bedding. Private rooms have a bathroom in the building, group bunks have a nice bathhouse located conveniently nearby.

Camping gear rentals

This year we are partnering with Wooded Nomad —an outdoor equipment rental store located in Northeast Minneapolis. All 2019 campers can get a 30% discount off all rentals using discount code Chefcamp19.

And your gear will be delivered straight to camp for you! During checkout, just select "In store pickup" and include in the note section, “Picking up at Chef Camp.”

WHAT SHOULD I PACK?

Download our handy Packing List to see everything you’ll need for the best Camp experience.

IS THERE A MINIMUM AGE?

Campers must be 21 years of age or older. No exceptions.

WHAT DOES MY TICKET COVER?

Your ticket to Chef Camp is all-inclusive and covers two nights tent camping, all classes and activities, and all food and beverages (including the "adult" ones.) Indoor lodging is available, at an extra charge.

How many classes will i get to take?

Each attendee will take three classes over the course of the weekend. Each class will include one chef instructor and between 10 and 15 students. There will be some student involvement in each class—not stem-to-stern participation in every case—but more than just simply sitting and listening.

CAN YOU ACCOMMODATE MY DIETARY RESTRICTION?

Ask us using the contact form below. Some of the meals at Chef Camp will be meat-centric, but vegetarians are welcome. At this time, we're not able to cook for people with serious gluten restrictions. We also can't provide a vegan menu this time around (although it's an intriguing idea for future events.)

What's your alcohol policy?

We'll be providing opportunities to (responsibly) enjoy beer and spirits throughout the weekend. We ask that campers do not bring additional alcohol with them, and refrain from consuming to excess.

WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL?

More than 30 days out from the event, Chef Camp will offer a full refund upon request. After 30 days before the event, we aren't able to offer a refund.
